Stephanie Chin |
| Stephanie Chin has been a client at Fitness Together Medford since August of 2007. She first came in to the studio wanting to get back in shape for dancing and wanted to compete on a professional level and get into fantastic shape. She figured that our program would be ideal for her simply because the gym was not productive for her even when she did have a membership. Stephanie has lost a total of 18 lbs and is 2 lbs away from her original goal! She has dropped 5% in body fat, has a fantastic cardiovascular system and has lost a total of 9 inches combined from her original circumference measurement sites. She says about her experience thus far that she is “ back in shape and has definition in her arms.” More importantly she now can “fit back into the ‘skinny’ jeans and feels much better about herself.” In adding to her achievements here with us she states that “ in dance I am asked to perform at benefits, shows, and even television. Since Fitness Together I feel so much better about how I look and am more comfortable about dancing in front of large audiences in ( sometimes skimpy ) costumes.” Steph continues on in saying, “ I have now regained my flexibility which will benefit me in the long run as I begin to train for the Professional Division Ballroom Dancesport Competition.” We are so proud of Stephanie for her dedication and will continue to support her STARDOM!!! |

| I came to FT because I had reached a pant size that I was not comfortable with. I knew that if I just started exercising on my own it would not last and I would not get any results. Then I received a flyer from FT in the mail and thought this is exactly what I need. After two and half months I can see and feel the changes that have occurred. I feel better and have more energy throughout the day. Using the online nutrition program I have made changes to my diet which has also been positive. Melanie, Chi, Tracey, Sean, and Marika have provided me the support and encouragement to keep going and make fitness a part of life. |

During the fall/winter of 2007 Peggy managed to lose 20lbs by simply eating healthfully. By early 2008, the weight loss stagnated and she new she had to incorporate a structured exercise regimen into her life. “I’ve belonged to many gyms and was really gung-ho and motivated—in the beginning. I would write a $300 check which would turn into my one yearly workout” In April 2008 Peggy joined Fitness Together wanting to make exercising a priority and a critical part of my lifestyle. She said “the business woman in me knew that if I made an appointment to exercise and a professional was waiting for me on the other end, I would feel obligated to come. Now, I haven’t exercise so regularly since high school. Peggy has now made exercise a priority in her life. She says “I have so much more energy now, which makes living my daily life easier. Things get done. In addition, I’ve lost 12 more pounds and gone down tow dress sizes. I don’t jiggle when I walk, so I’m thinking of having a little ceremony to burn my Spanx.” “I can’t say enough about the wonderful staff at FT. Yes, they’re tough, but I must laugh almost as much as I groan during my workouts. They make it fun and they make sure that I have successes. They give tips on everything from what to eat before and after a workout to how to maximize my cardio time. Janice Shea |
| Janice's initial reason for joining Fitness Together was to lose weight and get in better shape to be able to ski this winter. With debilitating arthritis and tendonitis in both knees as well as past ACL reconstructions, Janice deals with incredible pain. So, starting an exercise program was important but it was her goal to learn how to exercise without getting injured. She is DETERMINED to not let anything get in her way, fitness became a PRIORITY IN HER LIFE. Just two weeks into her program she fractured her patella and was unable to do any cardio or even leg work for an entire month. Even with those restrictions, Janice did not miss a session. We had her boxing for cardio and continued a normal upper body strengthening program for that month. In that initial six weeks, Janice lost 6 pounds!!!! Since working out at Fitness Together Janice has lost weight and inches; but even better than that, Janice has gotten stronger and "...just FEELS BETTER." Janice gives us 150% to this program and it shows. Janice says "the staff is wonderful, always encouraging... they have pushed me to work hard." Leo Cook |
| Leo came to us in July wanting to lose some weight, feel stronger, and have more energy. Leo had no history of ever working out at a fitness facility in his past. He had competed locally as a National Fencer. He wished to better his cardiovascular endurance, strengthen his legs significantly, and awaken his core system. Each of these is crucial aspects of his sport. He had anticipated his nutritional modifications to be one aspect of this program that would be a challenge simply due to his three-hour-long practice schedule. He wasn’t sure how to build muscle and this was something he desired in order to return to competitive status--- feeling strong and confident. He also specified he would like to increase the “explosiveness” in his legs. After training consistently three times a week he noticed things changing. He said, “When I make an attack I usually fall short and fall off balance and I feel like the shoulder combination exercises have helped to get me back into it so quick” And also,” the core and back exercises have really helped. He also claimed, "This is the fastest I have ever gotten back into it and the balance and core has definitely improved immensely." A weekend upcoming at the end of September he has a smaller local competition. About the competition he promised to me,” If I win anything I will send you a picture!" We commend Leo for his hard work and dedication. |

Paul Walsh |
| Paul Walsh started training at Fitness Together, Reading in March of 2008 looking to feel better and lose some weight. In his first 6 weeks in the studio he has lost 12lbs and lost 3.5 inches on his waist. Paul says “It is amazing to me that just a few months ago, I needed a “come-along” to button my pants and refused to buy a larger size. After only two sessions I realized how many muscles were out of shape and that my cardio was not in good shape either.” Paul has realized how his time commitment is paying off. “After 3 months I can see improvement in my energy, cardio and muscle strength.” He consistently trains 3 times per week and sees the value in his long term health. “I want to thank all of the trainers at FT for their encouragement and helping me to continue to reach my goal. Rich McGlynn |
| Rich McGlynn came to us originally to increase his flexibility, gain strength, and lose a bit of weight. He says he has seen a “dramatic increase” in all of these–except his weight–of course!!! He has lost body fat as well as four inches from his waist. Rich’s body fat reduction as well as his waistline diminishing makes such a difference in regards to his overall results!!! His strength has drastically improved and his posture has done a complete turnaround. He says that his experience at Fitness Together has “been everything he wanted” and he “saw results almost immediately.” Rich sees a “definite increase in his energy levels” and is astounded that he “wakes up so much earlier in the morning since he started working out here.” He enjoys the fact that he is “always learning something new and consistently has a great workout each time.” His upper body is much more defined, and he says his “friends compliment the changes they see in him and that he has undergone a complete transformation from only a couple of years ago.” I quote Rich in saying, “I am always looking forward to my appointment because you are all great motivators.” He likes the fact that each of the trainers at Fitness Together Medford have a different style and that we all work well together and definitely complement one another in our special environment within the studio. One of the improvements Rich wanted to see was an increase in his flexibility and on his last assessment he had a superior gain of four inches!! Lisa is determined to get her body back. She recently saw tremendous results in her retest after 6 weeks. She dropped 10.5lbs., dropped 6% body fat, Lost 12.3 inches and gained 9 cm in flexibility. She has continued to lose another 5.5 lbs! |

| Anthony came to us in March to help him lose some weight, create healthy habits and help him with the motivation he had been searching for. Since making the investment in himself and honoring that commitment to the fullest he has reaped the rewards! He has lost 25lbs, and 6 inches off of his waist! Anthony is always at his appointments at least 20 minutes before hand to get a good cardiovascular workout in, knowing that the staff is going to hold him accountable to that. He says that “the trainers push me to keep going further and further.” Anthony never thought he would run again, but ended up running twice in just a week! With three kids and another on the way he has started to make the necessary changes to be around and active with his kids for a lifetime. Carolyn Bartlett |
| Carolyn came to Fitness Together Topsfield with the specific goal to lose weight. Carolyn says that “though the novelty has worn off after four months, the enthusiasm and skill of the trainers keeps me coming back.” Her hard work has certainly paid off. She has made our biggest loser board having lost over 16 inches!!!! She has also increased her strength. When she started, Carolyn could do just 10 push ups on the smith bar, and just one week ago Carolyn was banging out 20 push ups ON THE GROUND! Carolyn also suffers from knee pain and could only do a 25 second wall sit when she started, but now she clocks in at 2:20.93 – talk about destroying old times! Carolyn has a great comedic sense about her that makes her a joy to train. Granted, there were times when it was like pulling teeth to get her to do her cardio but she works hard through her entire session and THEN does at least 25 minutes of cardio. Carolyn is a true testament to hard work and perseverance. The staff at Fitness Together is so proud of her. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! |

| For 25 years, I was always going to get in shape and lose weight TOMORROW. Well, tomorrow finally became today when I received the Fitness Together postcard in May about the opening of their new Melrose facility. I needed to make a commitment to good health and someone to help me live up to that commitment. The staff at Fitness Together has done just that. Melanie, Chi, Tracy, Sean & Marika have provided all the encouragement I’ve needed, particularly when I had to do those last few ab crunches or push ups. And the convenient location has also helped. Twelve weeks later, I feel amazingly better, less tired, and much stronger. My entire diet has changed (and even found tasty substitutes for those times when I crave a snack). The positive comments I’ve received from family, friends and co-workers add to the incentive. So thanks guys for making my tomorrow become today. | Barbara initially joined Fitness Together to feel better over,“Weight loss is always a goal – but it is a slow moving challenge,” she says. Mitzi Lawlor |
| Mitzi Lawlor has been with us here at Fitness Together Medford since last summer and we would all like to say that we need more clients like her!!! When she started here with us she specified that she wanted to feel better. Prior to training with us here at Fitness Together she worked with a trainer and found that as time went on she was in more and more pain. We immediately wanted to address this and frequently say to our clients that “people are not supposed to be in pain.” We work toward reducing and eventually eliminating any discomfort for clients like Mitzi through functional training. Some of her other goals included losing some weight after her last child, gaining energy, and having her clothes fit better. Mitzi works long hours and saw this as a possible barrier yet still fit her workouts in during her lunch break. She has seen significant differences in her own dedication to our program. Mitzi has put her workouts to the top of her priority list. Her energy level has greatly improved and she has even had to shop for new clothes! Her gains in strength, stamina, endurance, and knowledge about nutrition are astonishing. Mitzi is an exceptional client to us here and should know that she has set an example. Since the first day she asked me when we passed one another in Dunkin Donuts if I “worked for the place down the street” and said she “was thinking about joining” –she has made phenomenal advancements in her fitness. Check out her results: She has lost 33 lbs, dropped over 5% body fat, and lost a total of 35.25 inches from her body!!! She can do 20 full range pushups and has also gained over 4 inches in flexibility. If you asked Mitzi how this has enhanced her life she would say that she now enjoys her golf game much more and has the endurance to swim multiple laps like she had always wished she could. | Jim first came to Fitness Together because he needed help with his workouts. He always thought he would be the guy that could run forever, but not the guy who can hold his own in strength activities. “FT has shown me how to do both” Jim says. “My strength and endurance is at an all time high.” Jim says he is glad he made the commitment and tells people the reason he will be around for a while is because the trainers keeping him going. “The energy level and knowledge they bring to each session amazes me! | Anthony originally joined FT looking to lose some weight and feel better throughout his busy daily activities. He was also looking for an increase in overall fitness. His main goals upon joining were to gain more energy, not feeling groggy in the morning and wanting to have a better outlook each day. Since beginning his personal training program he has lost some weight, has a better self image, his attitude has been more positive towards family, work and friends. Also this has been a positive effect on his lifestyle and he does not feel tired anymore throughout the day. | When Charlie came to us at FT Medford just a couple of months ago, he was feeling “lethargic” and now when he leaves he says he “feels great!” Charlie has been extremely dedicated and has continued to follow the modifications we made to his diet. | Sharon made a decision to start taking care of herself after her having her fifth child. Before Fitness Together she worked out at the gym, did the same routine and found that her workouts were stale. | My initial reason for joining the Fitness Together family was to lose weight and tone up. The one day that sticks out in my mind was when my step daughter flicked the flab on my arm. That was the day I decided to get into shape. My main goal when I started working out was to do a total of 50 push-ups without feeling like dying after. Since beginning my personal training program I have better endurance, mentally I am sharper and I feel really toned. I have also noticed that I can run distances with ease and not want to stop half way. Another big asset is that I have learned how to structure out my meals along with making better food choices to make my goals happen. Furthermore, in the beginning I could only do the elliptical for only 10 minutes, now I could do it forever if I wanted to.” Personal training at Fitness Together helps me organize my priorities and gives me that ability to add fitness into my very busy schedule which is very important to me! As I imagine, most testimonials regarding FT speak of the number of inches and pounds lost as well as strength gained. I certainly must state that this is very true in my case, but more importantly I must address the kind and careful supervision of the entire staff. I am an elderly person with rheumatoid arthritis from head to toe. When I first began the training I was fearful that it might cause the arthritis to flare up. But under the careful supervision of the FT staff, I not only was comfortable but was able to increase my strength and eliminate some pain. Most of my knee pain has subsided and I can now get up off the ground without assistance. I was also averaging about one fall per month. Since coming to FT I haven’t fallen in over 3 months now! I cannot tell you how grateful I am to both FT and Paul, the studio manager. They have given me a new lease on life. As a physician, I understand how important weight management is to overall health. For several years, however, I struggled to keep my own weight at a healthy level. When I decided it was time to make a change, I knew that the only healthy and permanent way to lose weight was to eat fewer calories, increase my cardiovascular exercise and make weight training a priority in my life. Over the past year, I have dedicated myself to these goals. As a result, I’ve shed over 80 pounds, and I feel I’m in the best physical condition of my life. In addition, my blood pressure normalized, my energy levels skyrocketed, and my self-consciousness melted away. I wanted to take the time to thank you and the entire team at Fitness Together for all your help and guidance for helping me to get into the best shape I have been in years! I lost over 30 lbs in my first four months at Fitness Together. I have been able to do so without starving myself or taking any diet pills. I haven’t felt this good in years. Not only do I have much more energy than before, but also my lower back pain – which has been with me since I broke my tailbone 4 years ago – has lessened to the point where it is practically non-existent. I have heard many comments from friends and family who have noticed my weight loss. I recently ran into a friend I hadn’t seen in about six weeks who commented, “Wow, that personal training is really working for you.” She was right. My doctor is also very pleased with the results. The only down side, if it is a down side, is that I’ve had to go out and buy all new clothes. I owe all this to the entire staff at Fitness Together. I have learned so many things about diet and exercise that I never knew before. The trainers have been able to build a program unique to my needs, which has had tremendous results. The facility is first class all the way. I have worked out in many gyms in the past – some considered “high end” – but none can match the private training rooms and clean, classy facilities.
